Airport located in the eastern part of Pudong district of Shanghai.

The first operational maglev railway in the world, from Shanghai, to the Pudong International Airport was inaugurated in 2002. It has a peak speed of 430 km/h and a track length of 30 km.

The airport opened on October 1, 1999, A second runway was opened on March 17, 2005 while a second terminal was under construction and scheduled for completion by 2007. In 2004, the airport handled nearly 500 flights per day, carrying more than 35 million passengers per year.

Its IATA Airport Code is PVG and its ICAO Airport Code is ZSPD.

 

Shanghai Intl Hongqiao (SHA)

The airport is in the western part of a still relatively urban area of Shanghai.

This airport was used by 14 142 538 passengers in 1998. Before the construction of Pudong, the Hongqiao Airport served as Shanghai's main international airport.
