In 2006 every week there are over 168 long haul flights in Johannesburg: Sao Paulo, Perth, Sydney, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Bahrein, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Athens, Zurich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Madrid, Paris, London).

In 2006 some 13 million passengers used the airport each year.

In 1998 Johannesburg (JNB) recieved 10 870 104 passengers.

In 1990 only a few cities had non-stop long haul service to Johannesburg (London, Paris, Zurich, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Rome) with only 28 flights a week.

This was the first airport for Johannesburg, constructed in the 1920s.
