North West airlines

In 2005 North West Airlines is based in Minneapolis and they dominate traffic in Detroit (DTW) and Memphis (MEM). Internationally in 2005 they have a hub in Tokyo and Amsterdam as they have an alliance with KLM.

January 8th 2007 the last northwest DC 10 flight took place. Also all Boeing 747-200 have left the fleet by 2007. Leaving only their 16 Boeing 747-400, 21 Airbus Airbus A330-300 and 11 Airbus Airbus A330-200 as their widebody fleet. But also some of their 55 narrowbody Boeing 757-200 are used for transatlantic service.

By december 2005 Northwest had stored 26 DC 10 and 8 MD80-90. Also 24 Boeing 747 were stored or broken up. Also 8 Boeing 757 were stored.

By november 2005 two of their 16 Boeing 747-400 were stored.

On september the 14th 2005 Northwest filed for banckruptcy protection.

In 2005 Northwest flies 64 Boeing 757. From Airbus they used 77 A320 and 74 A 319. They used 8 Airbus A330-300 and 10 Airbus A330-200. They used 16 Boeing 747-400 on their routes between the USA and Asia. They were also flying 20 DC 10. For Cargo they used 11 Boeing 747-200.   In september 2005 they used 6 Boeing 747-200 on their routes between Guan, Honolulu and Tokyo.

In 2003 the fleet of North West Airlines consisted of more than 400 aircraft of which 16 Boeing 747-400 and 21 Boeing 747-200 and 12 Boeing 747-200 Freighter. They also used 29 DC10 aircarft, which just like the 747-200's are over 20 years old on average. They had 71 Boeing 757 airplanes and 155 airplanes of the A320 family and 165 DC9's, which are on average over 30 years old. In 2003 they had an alliance with KLM since several years.
