In november 2006 Finnair used 7 MD-11 aircraft and 1 Airbus A340-300 for the long haul.

In december 2005 Finnair ordered 9 Airbus A350s and 3 Airbus A340-300. The A340 aircraft will be acquired in 2007 and 2008. The first A350 will join the Finnair fleet in 2011 and replace the MD-11 aircraft. Finnair has purposefully increased the number of its Asian flights since 1999 and has more than 40 flights a week to Asian destinations in 2005. Finnair believes it can expand in Asia and use Helsinki as a hub between east and west, as Helsinki offers the shortest and fastest connections between the two continents.

In 2004 their fleet consisted of 5 MD-11 aircraft. They also have the 13 MD-82/MD-83 aircraft. Of Airbus they used 26 aircraft of the A320 family (9 A319, 12 A320 and 5 A321). They also use 7 Boeing B757 and 9 ATR 72.
